Do you ever feel like your house gets a little messier each day you head towards the weekend? By the time Friday gets here, I’m embarrassed to have people in the house and I usually spend most of my Saturday cleaning my house.
No wonder I always felt like I never had a weekend! I spent most of it cleaning or shopping. Until I started spending 20 minutes a night tackling one room in the house a night. By dedicating this time each night, not only did I feel like I wasn’t fighting a losing battle but it freed up a lot of my time on Saturday – time I’d sooner be spending with my family.
My first trick is to make sure my kitchen counter is cleared off each night before bed. All dishes are taken care of, lunches are made and the counters are wiped down.
Here is a schedule of my other chores I do during the week:
Monday: Bedrooms, all laundry is put away
Tuesday: Bathroom #1
Wednesday: Dining Room & Living Room vacuumed (or swept in my case), dusted and tidied
Thursday: Bathroom #2, Main Entrance – tidied and swept
Friday: Kitchen, dusted, floors swept and spot washed
I’ll also try complete 1 load of laundry a day as well. I usually have an easy 8 loads of laundry to do over the weekend so if I can lighten that load for the weekend as well, even better.
